It is owned by NBCUniversal International Networks under Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS). This channel officially slogan, motto, jargon and tagline is Be Pop Cultured.
History
Opening ceremony
E! Entertainment Television was officially launched on 3 May 1995 as Singaporean 24-hour English pay television channel, owned by Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) under license from Time Warner Communications. It was broadcast from Singapore, airing throughout Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Singapore.
E! Entertainment Television was officially launched at stroke of midnight Singapore Time with an opening ceremony by Tyra Banks being a simulcast from Hallmark Entertainment Network. E! Asia was also an Asian version of the American TV channel E! Entertainment which was owned by Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) under license from Time Warner Communications. E!'s launch was celebrated on air from iconic locations; the Padang, Singapore and Changi Airport.
E! Asia's production facilities was in Singapore. Among the popular reality shows included Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian's Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
On 16 April 2007, E! Entertainment was officially launched in Malaysia on Astro channel 76 then moved to channel 712 from 1 October 2007. On 14 March 2019, the SD version of the channel shifted and switched to 16:9 before the HD version of the channel officially opened on 16 October 2019.
Closing Night
As part of a restructuring at NBCUniversal International Networks and the officially formal full launch of Hayu in Asia on at stroke of midnight New Year's Day 2020, E! Entertainment Television along with its sister channel Diva officially ceased broadcasting and transmission after very final and last programme being Keeping Up with the Kardashians, ending with season 17 episode "Cattle Drive Me Crazy" after the very final and last programme, with the station ident/logo of E! and the vocal national anthem was played with Singapore English/Singlish translated subtitles and laserdisc label by Kowloon Video Pte Ltd after the officially closing ceremony by Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Khloé Kardashian in held at Marina Bay Sands, Marina Bay, Downtown Core, Singapore.[1]
After two minutes of the black screen, it was cut to the closure message for providers that broadcast the channel. For example, an Indonesian provider broadcast this message "THIS CHANNEL HAS BEEN CEASED BROADCAST. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER FOR DETAILS". All selected E! shows were moved to CNBC Asia.
Former original programming
In December 2014, the channel launched its first local Malaysian miniseries Facing Up to Fazura.[2] E! Asia also produced E! News Asia Specials, focusing profiles of national celebrities such as Aaron Aziz, Anne Curtis, Jay Park, and Lisa Surihani.
