Bartleet was born in Edgbaston, Birmingham,[2] the son of physician Thomas Hiron Bartleet Шаблон:Post-nominals and Louisa Ann Bartleet.[3][4] educated at Clifton College[5] and New College, Oxford. He began his career with a curacy at Doncaster Parish Church. During World War I was a Chaplain to the Forces.[6] He held incumbencies in Hope, Derbyshire, Much Wenlock and Wistanstow.[7]

He died in 1946 in Ludlow, Shropshire.[8]
