Embankment Exchange is a residential development under construction in the Greengate area of Salford, Greater Manchester, England. It will comprise 300 apartments across two buildings connected by a central podium: the 107 m (349 ft) tall North Tower and 50 m (163 ft) tall South Tower.[1] The buildings were designed by Jeffrey Bell Architects.[2]

Once completed, the North Tower will become the fourth-tallest building in Salford and the joint 17th-tallest building in Greater Manchester with City Tower.

History

Planning

The planning application was submitted to Salford City Council in August 2015,[3] with planning approval obtained in March 2016.[4]

Construction

In 2017, Elliot Group commenced construction of the complex, then called 'The Residence',[1] but progress was delayed the following year when main contractor Forrest went into administration.[5] Work stalled again in 2020 pending the results of a wider fraud investigation,[5] before restarting in February 2022 following the acquisition of the site by Legacie Developments who renamed the development 'Embankment Exchange'.[6] Construction was expected to complete in 2023,[1] but is ongoing as of February 2024.

Facilities

The development will include a spa, gym, residents lounge and bar, work-from-home booths and a 24-hour concierge.[7]
