Exascale is most commonly known to provide high speed internet and point-to-point connectivity to businsses using a variety of access technologies nationally across the United Kingdom.

Exascale has network presence in London Docklands, Cheltenham, Wolverhampton, Telford, Manchester and Edinburgh. Providing a variety of full fibre internet and data centre services.

Exascale is a member of RIPE,[1] ISPA,[2] Nominet[3] and LINX[4]

History

Exascale was founded by Thomas Bibb in 2009, and oringally named Oxide Technologies Limited, but in 2012 changed its name to Exascale Limited.[5]

In 2015 Exascale joined the London Internet Exchange, peering with other Internet Service and content providers in London Telehouse North.[4]

In July 2017 Exascale launched its own ADSL and FTTC Pacakges [6]

Most recently in July 2019 Exascale announced the investment in their full fibre network within the town of Telford, providing Gigabit capable internet connectivity to domestic (“FTTH”) and to business premises in the Telford, Shropshire.[7] At the time of writing Exascale has passed 220 homes and 40 businesses in the Hadley and Trench area of Telford.[8]

Customers of Exascale's own FTTP network are seen to achieve speeds in excess of 900Mbit/s,[9] whereas the national average as reported by Ofcom shows 54Mbit/s.[10]

They also announced their MPLS network was extended from Manchester to Wolverhampton in May 2019, serving local businesses with high full fibre Gigabit Internet connectivity utilising BT Openreach’s EAD (Ethernet Access Direct) product.[11]

In December 2019 Ofcom granted Electronic Code Powers to Exascale after a month-long consultation. The application to Ofcom said obtaining Code Powers will enable Exascale to deploy their own Optical Fibre in Telford at a faster pace and remain competitive.[12][13]

Products

Utilizing hardware from Cisco and Nokia, Exascale's MPLS network is located in a number of POPs around the United Kingdom.

Exascale is present on the London Internet Exchange on the regional exchange data centres located in London, Manchester.[14]

Exascale's products are prodomantly focused towards business to business however their recent expansion into FTTP has seen the introduction of packages for residential customers
