The Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) is a specialized financial institution in India that was established in 1982. The Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) was founded by the Government of India under the Export-Import Bank of India Act, 1981, which was introduced in the Indian Parliament by the then Finance Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The act was passed by both houses of parliament and received the assent of the President of India on 7 April 1982. The first chairman and managing director of Exim Bank was Shri R.S. - 1982: Exim Bank was established on 1 January 1982, under the Export-Import Bank of India Act, 1981, with the aim of promoting and financing India's international trade.[1][9]
- 1983: The first overseas representative office of Exim Bank was established in London, UK.[10]
- 1985: Exim Bank started providing Lines of Credit to overseas governments, enabling them to import goods and services from India on favorable credit terms.[11]
- 1991: Exim Bank set up an Export Development Fund to support the export activities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in India.[12]
