Exoring refers to a topic in which an exoplanet can possess a ring system. Such topics state that an exomoon crashed into the exoplanet during its history, or the planet possessed a group of exoasteroids, which ended up orbiting the exoplanet.

Observation

In 2011, scientists observing the star V1400 Centauri observed weird objects appear in front of one of its planets. Scientists hypothesized it may have been a exomoon, although closer analysis proved that the exomoon would be too big, and would easily be visible using a telescope. Another reason it couldn't be a moon is the exomoon would also create gravitational lensing around the planet. Scientists watched the planets light exposure using telescopes, and proved that a ring system orbits it; the first of its genre.[1]

Another time in 2022, scientists observed a terrestrial exoplanet designated as HIP 41378 f, that orbits an F-type star named HIP 41378. During a survey in 2022, scientists found that during measuring of the planets mass when it was discovered, astronomers may have incorrectly noted the radius, as the planet is too large (9.2 Шаблон:Earth radius) to be a terrestrial planet, as gaseous materials would have been accumulated in the planets atmosphere, classifying it as a gas giant, rather than a terrestrial planet. Hypothetically speaking, the planets mass may have been incorrectly calculated, leading to a hypothesis that the planet may have a thick ring system around it.[2]
