Farah or Farrah is a feminine and occasionally masculine given name in Arabic, Persian or Urdu, derived from the concept of the Khvarenah (divine radiance, halo). It rose in usage in the Anglosphere due to associations with the American actress and model Farrah Fawcett (1947–2009), and American reality television personality Farrah Abraham (born 1991). The name Farrah was among the top 1,000 names for newborn girls in the United States between 1976 and 1980, between 1987 and 1988, and again between 2010 and 2016. [1] [2] [3]
