Federal Polytechnic, Oko is recognized as one of the developing tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It has established memoranda of understanding with several universities in Nigeria and abroad.[5][6]
On February 4, 2019, Dr. Francisca Unoma Nwafulugo became the first female substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Oko.[7] Her appointment was made by Nigeria's Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu.[8] Prior to this role, she served as a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Kaduna Polytechnic.[9][10]

The Polytechnic has three campuses located across Nigeria.[15]
- The main campus is at Oko which occupies a total land area of 89 hectares or approximately acres.
- Ufuma campus occupies a total land area of 52 hectares or approximately 129 acres.
- Atani campus has a total area of 40 hectares.[16]
