Geography

The land in most of the locality is low-lying about Шаблон:Convert or less, but on the western edge of the locality, the land begins to rise sharply towards the ridge of the Great Dividing Range with the south-west of the locality reaching Шаблон:Convert. The locality is bounded by the Mossman River to the south and east.[3]

Finlayvale Road passes through the locality from the north-east (Mossman) to the south-west (Syndicate). The predominant land use is growing sugarcane. There is a cane tramway network to transport the harvested sugarcane to the Mossman Central Mill.[3]

History

The locality was named after the Finlayvale sugar plantation established by pioneers Denis and Teresa O'Brien. Teresa's maiden name was Finlay.[4][5][6][7]
