Flora Mutahi is a seasoned entrepreneur spanning over 27 years in the manufacturing sector, with extensive local and international experience in strategic leadership, business development, market penetration and marketing. She has proven ability to innovate, conceptualize and implement business solutions.[1]
Background and education
She was born in Kenya and attended local schools for her primary and secondary education. Flora holds a B.Sc. Finance and accounts (UK), and an Executive Master of Business Administration, awarded by the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
She also has an Executive Marketing Diploma form the Marketing Society of Kenya, and has undergone several trainings in various fields. She is a Certified Executive Coach from AOEC, she also has board trainings from Board of Directors Kenya, Center for Corporate Governance, Mwongozo training for GOK. Flora is also a Licensed Real estate Agent in Kenya EARB.
Work history
Flora Mutahi is the founder and CEO of Melvin Marsh International Ltd under her helm, Melvin Marsh pioneered the introduction of flavored teas in Kenya and is today a renowned household name. The brand has also penetrated regional and international markets and continues to grow. As the brainchild of the company, Flora developed and continues to diversify the company’s portfolio under the Melvins brand through market research and understanding of changing consumer trends locally and abroad. As a result of her strategic direction for the company; Melvins has received several awards such as the Top 100, Fire awards for Financial reporting, and the Most Promising Entrepreneur among others.[2]
In 2011 Flora founded Azizi Realtors a real a real estate company in the prestigious Lavington area that manages ,rents and sells properties.
Family
Flora Mutahi is a married mother of three children.[1][3] In 2016 Flora was the first female chairperson of the Kenya association of Manufacture. In November 2017, she was elected vice-chairperson of the business council of the Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa.[4] followed by May 2021 she was also the first female Chairperson of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
Today Flora sits on the Boards of The UN Global Compact, SBM Bank, Old Mutual and Simba Corp.
