He is a former president of Morgan Stanley International and a special adviser on business and investment to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.[2]

Petitgas joined the investment bank Morgan Stanley in 1993.[3] In 2005 he was appointed a co-head of European banking at Morgan Stanley, and was the head of in 2007.[4][5]

Petitgas was appointed to a four-year term as a trustee of the Tate Galleries in February 2008.[3][6] He is a collector of contemporary Latin American art.[3]

Petitgas was nominated by Sunak for a life peerage[7][2] and was created Baron Petitgas on 7 March 2024, sitting on the Conservative benches in the House of Lords.[1]
