Beginnings

Future Palace was founded at the end of 2018 by singer Maria Lessing, guitarist Manuel Kohlert, and drummer Johannes Frenzel.[1] The latter two had previously been active in several bands together and met Maria Lessing when she sang a feature for their band at the time.[2][3][4] With the idea of establishing a new band later, the three created a WhatsApp group called "Future Palace". This name was ultimately adopted as the band name.[4][5] On March 26, 2019, the band released their first single Maybe.[6] The accompanying music video was released on April 11, 2019, on Future Palace's YouTube channel.[7][8] The band then on May 31, 2019, released a second single Anomaly.[9] The band played their first concerts on August 29 and 30, 2019 in Berlin and Hamburg.[10][11][12]

On the same day the single Illusionist featuring Tobias Rische of Alazka was released along with a music video.[13][14][15] Announced with the release of their single Ghost Capter on July 17, 2020, the band released their debut album Escape on September 18, 2020. In addition, a Germany-wide headliner tour was announced for early 2021, which later had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[16][17]

On November 5, 2021, the band released their single Paradise including a music video.[18][19] With the release of the single Heads Up on December 16, 2021, the second album Run was also announced, which was released on June 10, 2022.[20][21] The album opened on position 82 in the official german Albums Charts.[22] In April 2022 the band played their first headlining tour, called "Take Me to Paradise" tour.[18][23]

On April 20, 2023, Future Palace released their single Malphas.[24]

Style and influences

The band's musical style is often described as post-hardcore/alternative rock with 80's synth-pop and electronica influences.[2][25][26][27][28] Among others, the members of the band name Bring Me the Horizon, Pvris, The Midnight, and Mike Oldfield as musical influences.[2][29] The lyrics are written by vocalist Maria Lessing and deal with personal experiences, especially depression, inner conflicts and toxic relationships.[2][4][30]
