Life

He was graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1933 and from the University of Iowa in 1938.

He taught at Mount Holyoke College, Yale University, University of Connecticut, Wayne State University, Columbia University, University of Maine, Springfield College, Central Connecticut State College, Russell Sage College, State University of New York at Plattsburgh.[2]

His work appeared in Poetry Magazine,[3] He had tea with Sylvia Plath.[4]

A novel manuscript is at University of Iowa.[5] He corresponded with Nicholas Joost,[6] Judith Moffett,[7] and Stephen Vincent Benét,[8] and wrote a foreword to his book Stephen Vincent Benét on writing.[9]
