George Abraham (جورج إبراهيم) is a Palestinian American poet. He is the author of Birthright and the specimen's apology.

Education

Abraham received their M.S. in Bioengineering at Harvard University, studying how predictions can affect the brain's process for learning motor tasks.[1] As of 2021, he was a student in the Litowitz Creative Writing program at Northwestern University in Evanston.[2]

Poetry

Abraham was named "Best Poet" at the 2017 College Union Poetry Slam International.[3] In 2018, they won the Cosmonauts Avenue Poetry Prize, judged by Tommy Pico.[4] They are a board member for RAWI (Radius of Arab American Writers)[5] and a Kundiman fellow.[6]

Their illustrated chapbook the specimen's apology was published in January 2019 by Sibling Rivalry Press, and illustrated by Leila Abdelrazaq.[7] A review on The Rumpus spoke positively of the use of form and interdisciplinary themes.[8] The Michigan Quarterly Review commented on the complex portrayal of identity.[9]

Birthright

Their full-length collection Birthright was published in April 2020 by Button Poetry and received positive reviews.[10] In 2021, Birthright was a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award for Bisexual Literature[11] and won the Arab American Book Award for Poetry.[12]
