Gordana Sekulić (Шаблон:Lang-sr-cyr; born 27 February 1977), better known as Goga Sekulić, is a Montenegrin-born Serbian singer.
Life and career
Sekulić was born on February 27, 1977, in Pljevlja in todays Montenegro, but was raised in Belgrade. She graduated from the grad school of business.[1] Sekulić made her recording debut with Ljubavnica, released under City Records in 2000. The album was followed by I lepša i bolja (2001), Opasno po život (2002) and Po zakonu (2003). In 2006, she released her fifth studio album Gaćice through Grand Production. It included popular hits like "Gaćice", "Tvoje oči" featuring Osman Hadžić and "Seksi biznismen". Gaćice was sold in 80,000 units.[2] In May 2007, Sekulić became a contestant on the first celebrity season of Veliki Brat, where she placed 6th. She continued working with Grand on her succeeding album, Zlatna koka, in 2008, which circulated in 150,000 copies.[3]
In 2011, Sekulić released Ja sam probala sve under Gold Music. The album was sold in 10,000 copies.[4] In April 2014, she participated on the Pink Music Festival with the song "Rekord sam oborila".[5] Later that year, Sekulić released Ponovo rođena under City Records, which was sold in 50,000 copies.[6] In May the following year, she returned to the Pink Music Festival with "Na tebe da ne liči", receiving the Sponsor Award.[7]
Public image
In March 2004, Serbian Playboy misrepresented a female model on their cover as Goga Sekulić. She subsequently sued the magazine and eventually won the case. As a result of the lawsuit, Serbian Playboy lost their license and was charged with one million Serbian dinars in compensation, which was at the time described as the biggest compensation in the history of the Serbian judiciary.[8][9]
Sekulić was featured on the Vice series Guide to the Balkans in 2012 as a representative of the Serbian turbo-folk scene.[10] She threatened to sue a local media outlet, which claimed CNN has described her work negatively. Her quote "Reći ću samo, vidimo se na sudu!" (All I am going to say is "See you at court!") has since become a popular internet meme.[11]
In September 2022, American artist Ashnikko cited "Seksi biznismen" as an inspiration for her then-upcoming album Weedkiller.[12]
Personal life
In May 2013, Sekulić married businessman Igor Ramović. Two months after their wedding, Ramović died from pancreatic cancer.[13]
Between 2016 and 2022, she was married to Serbian Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor Uroš Domanović.[14] Sekulić gave birth to their son Vasilij Andrej in late 2018.[15]
