The village lies Шаблон:Convert north of its sister village Little Dunham and Шаблон:Convert by road north east from Swaffham.

The village's name means 'Hill homestead/village.'

It is served by St Andrew's church[2] in the Benefice of Great Dunham.[3]

Great Denham used to have a smock mill[4] which was superseded by a tower mill,[5] now derelict.

There was once a Dunham railway station serving the two sister settlements. It is now closed.

Great Dunham has a single primary school.
