Gyawali (Шаблон:Lang-ne) is a surname or family name found in Nepal.It is also written as Gnawali. The surname belongs to a Brahmin/Kshatriya caste in Khas group, an Indo-Aryan ethno-linguistic group in Nepal

Etymology

Gyawali is historically believed to have an origin from present day Gulmi/Arghakhanchi area.[1] 'Gyawa' is the old endangered name of Baletaksar, Chautara and Bamgha VDC of Gulmi.[2][3][1] The word Gyawali was historically derived as the inhabitants of Gyawa Kshetra.[4]
