Шаблон:Short description Hakima Abbas is a political scientist, feminist activist, writer and researcher. In 2016, she became co-executive director of Association for Women's Rights in Development.[1][2][3] In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she advocated for an economic recovery plan, the "Just Recovery" that recognizes the impact of the pandemic on girls and women.[4][3] In 2021, she co-founded the Black Feminist Fund alongside Tynesha McHarris and Amina Doherty; the philanthropic fund is backed, in part by the Ford Foundation.[5] Previously, she was executive director of Fahamu.[6]

She also was an editor of the Queer African Reader (2013) with Sokari Ekine.[7] The book received as an important piece in international was an important contribution to feminist and LGBTQ work in Africa.[8][9]
