Hammed Kayode Alabi is a Nigerian social entrepreneur, poet, and founder of Kayode Alabi Leadership and Career Initiative (KLCI). This youth-led non-profit organisation aims to reduce inequalities through youth empowerment. [1][2][3]


Early life and education

He was born in 1994 in Makoko, Lagos, Nigeria. He earned a Bachelor of Science Education in Human Kinetics from the University of Ilorin in Nigeria.[4][5]

Career

In 2018, he won the US Consul General Award[6] and became the first young African Board Member at Peace First in 2020.[7][8]

In 2021 he earned his Master's degree in Africa and International Development at the University of Edinburgh as a Mastercard Foundation Scholar,[9]  he presently serves as the Senior Educational Mentoring Coordinator at Refugee Education UK, where he facilitates connections between young refugees/asylum seekers and mentors to provide educational support. Prior to this role, he served as the Young Refugee Project Coordinator with the British Red Cross.[10][11]

He served as a UNESCO youth delegate in 2022 during the Pre-Summit of the Transforming Education Summit held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris[12][13][14] and is an author of two published books.[15][16]

He is an author with two published books and has written over 192 articles on personal, community, and global development.[17] He has garnered numerous accolades, including the US Consul General Award, the Africa Talent of the Future recognition, and the prestigious MasterCard Foundation Scholarship.[18][19][20] He is currently a 2024 Western Union Foundation Fellow.[21][22][23]
