Harsh Ramesh Sanghvi (born 8 January 1985) is currently Minister of State (MoS) Sports, Youth Service, Co-ordination of voluntary organization, Non-resident Gujaratis’ Division, Transport, Gruh Rakshak Dal and Gram Rakshak Dal, Civil Defence, Jail, Border Security (All Independent Charge), Home and Police Housing, Industries, Cultural Activities (State Minister) In the Gujarat CM Bhupendrabhai Patel’s cabinet.[1] Before sanghvi Pradip Singh Jadeja, Amit Shah, Haren Pandya and Gordhanbhai Zadafia have served as the home minister of Gujarat under the BJP regime. He is a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Majura in Gujarat, India. He was also National Vice President of BJP Yuva Morcha.[2][3]
Early life
Harsh Sanghavi, a prominent youth leader in Gujarat, embarked on his career to effect positive change in society. During his early days of engaging in social service, he orchestrated events focused on personal development, career guidance, and various sports competitions for the youth. Moreover, his initiatives encompassed the establishment of medical initiatives aimed at combating severe ailments such as sickle cell and anemia prevalent in tribal regions like Songarh, Uchchal, Vyara, and Tapi districts. .[4]
Socio-Political Career
In 2008, he assumed the role of State General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha. In 2010, he was entrusted with the responsibility of Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha's state general secretary for the South Zone. In 2011, he diligently discharged his duties as the regional vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha. Subsequently, in 2012, he contested the Gujarat 2012 Assembly elections as the youngest candidate in Gujarat at the age of 27, representing the 165 Majura Assembly constituency on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, emerging victorious with a significant margin of 71,556 votes. In 2017, he secured an even larger margin of 85,827 votes in his triumph, followed by his 2022 victory with a total of 116,675 votes, securing a commanding lead of 72.76%, which stood as the second-best performance in the state.
Under the leadership of Bhupendrabhai Patel in 2021, Harsh Sanghavi assumed vital portfolios as a Minister in the newly elected Gujarat Cabinet. These responsibilities encompassed overseeing the domains of Sports, Youth Services, and Cultural Activities, along with coordinating Voluntary Organizations, Division of Non-Resident Gujaratis, Home Guard and Village Guards, Civil Defence, Narcotics Control, Excise, Jails, Border Security (Independent Charge), Home and Police Housing, and Disaster Management. Furthermore, in the newly formed 2022 Gujarat Cabinet, led by Bhupendrabhai Patel, he was entrusted with the position of Minister of State for Sports and Youth Services, while also handling the coordination of Voluntary Organizations, Division of Non-Resident Gujarati, Transport, Home Guard and Village Guard, Civil Defence, Jails, Border Security (all independent charges), Home and Police Housing, Industries, and Cultural Activities (State Level).
