The school received an "A" rating by the Louisiana Department of Education.[1] It is administered by Bossier Parish Schools. 80% of students received a four-year diploma, compared to 79% in the district and 74% statewide.[1] The Haughton Buccaneers play in district District 1-5A.[2]

The school's attendance boundary includes Haughton, a small portion of Bossier City,[3] Eastwood,[4] most of Red Chute,[5] Fillmore, Princeton,[6] and the East Reservation Area of Barksdale Air Force Base.[7]
