Overview

Hub71 was launched in 2019 by the UAE government as part of Ghadan 21 AED 50 billion economic accelerator initiative and is backed by the Mubadala Investment Company.[1][2][3][4][5][6] It was named after the UAE’s formation date of 1971 and is located in Abu Dhabi Global Market.[7][8] Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi serves as the chairman of Hub71.[9][10]

Hub71 was created as a community hub for entrepreneurs, investors and business enablers primarily to support startup companies across the world and to develop a global ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]

Hub71 provides incentives through its Company Building Program, offering cash and in-kind incentives. Startups gain financial support, mentorship, and access to Hub71's community. Through the program, Hub71 also gains an ownership interest in selected startups and provides further support packages to promote startup growth.[19][20][21] Additionally, startups can secure funding separately from venture capital firms that have partnered with Hub71.[22][23]

In February 2023, Hub71 announced the launch of Hub71+ Digital Assets, for the purpose of funding Web3 startups and Blockchain technologies.[24][25][26][27][28]

As of June 2023, the total number of start-ups at the technology hub were 260.[29][30]

In December 2023, Hub71 launched Hub71+ ClimateTech, a program to support global startups advancing sustainable decarbonization tech for a net-zero future.[31][32][33]
