Описание
Мелкие двукрылые насекомые (длина 3—5 мм) желтовато-коричневого цвета[1].
Палеонтология
Известно восемь ископаемых родов. Древнейшие представители семейства найдены в меловом ливанском янтаре[2].
Классификация
Около 30 видов[1]. В 2020 году предложено включить Lygistorrhinidae в состав семейства Keroplatidae в ранге подсемейства Lygistorrhininae[3].
